The Subang Jaya church mushroomed under the Petaling Jaya (PJ) church. The membership in the PJ church was made up of members from the Subang and PJ community, this accounted for 450 members. As the membership grew in PJ, there was a necessity to look for an alternative place of worship. Coincidentally, the Subang members made up 40% of the total membership in PJ. This prompted the church to set up a place of worship in Subang Jaya.
When Subang church started the cell group fellowship in 1995, there were 3 main cell groups separated by neighborhood locations-- Agape cell group, Emmanuel cell group and Canaan cell group. Home worship were held once a month and home evangelistic service were held once per quarter. These activites helped strengthen the members' faith and added new members to the fold.
The Subang Jaya church project was approved by members in PJ church in 1996 through the AGM. To raise RM1 million was a challenge because the church started with a zero base in its building fund.
Praise and thanks to the Almighty God that through His invisible hands, He motivated the members in oneness and working together to set up the church in Subang Jaya. This project was supported by all other churches in Malaysia.
A building committee was set up to source for a land to build a church or alternatively to purchase a ready premise. As local authorities have very strong control in the approval process of setting up churches in Malaysia, the committee decided to purchase a commercial building to serve as a place of worship.
On 3rd May 1996, the committee purchased 4 adjacent office lots at Subang mewah at RM185,000 per lot. The 4 adjacent lots were carefully selected with two lifts servicing the building at both ends to allow cconvenient access and allowing proper renovation. The dividing walls were broken down to provide a large chapel, office space, RE classes and dining facility.
The commercial building was completed 3 years later and the church took possession in Sep 1999. The renovation was completed in Dec 1999 and the total cost of the Subang Jaya worship space amounted to RM 1.2 million.
Praise and thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ that the Subang Jaya community is blessed with a new church building.
