The True Jesus Church in Tampa traces its beginnings to the early 1980’s. The holy work started with one family of five who lived on a military installation in 1983. The husband retired from the Air Force in 1989, but by then the number of believers began to steadily increase. With the abidance of God’s Holy Spirit, in 1997 we purchased an existing chapel and registered as the True Jesus Church of Tampa.
The Tampa Church has always been a melting pot of various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. Membership has consisted of Taiwanese, mainland Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Columbian, African-American, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Virgin Islanders, Indonesian, Caucasian, Guamanian, and even Egyptian—you might say we are like the United Nations (of God)! We embrace our individual cultures and ethnicities, but we also honor and respect the same of others. Cultural differences has never been an issue in TJC in Tampa. We are a very close-knit “family” that not only enjoys worshipping together, but also spending time in fellowship in the Spirit.
Like to bike or hike? Fish or swim? Play sports? Or just relax? Come join us! With our year-round warm climate, there is plenty to do. Thinking about where to go for your secondary education? Tampa has some of the finest colleges and universities in the country specializing in medicine, engineering, business, education, liberal arts, etc.—all within reasonable driving distances from the church.
If you are looking to be actively involved in helping the holy work in pioneering areas, Tampa may just be the place for you.
May God continue to guide and bless the holy work in Tampa, Florida.
